AI and the role of HR
Our Canadian HR Practice recently brought together the Toronto HR community for what was a relevant, timely, and insightful conversation on AI and the role HR leaders play in enabling conversations about AI advancements in the workplace. Guest speakers joined us from consulting, law, and insurance firms to share what they are seeing by way of best practices and trends.
Here are some key takeaways from the session:
1) 79% of global leaders believe AI will transform their business within 3 years.
2) AI should be treated as a new co-worker, meaning employees need to spend time and effort getting to know it and how they can work with it.
3) When implementing AI in the workplace, sometimes the best employees to get involved in solutions are those who are the closest to the work, to make the best improvements possible.
4) Get informed about data privacy, compliance, and legislative considerations specific to AI.
5) Think differently about the role of the Chief AI Officer. The most critical trait might not be deep tech expertise. The most vital competency might be high emotional intelligence to ensure that people leverage AI in a way that is ethical and aligns to the organisation’s objectives and cultural values.
